Food for the Soul By Ann Reedy
You are all children of light and of the day. We are not of the night or darkness. I Thessalonians 5:5
At last the long, dark days of winter are giving way to the promise of the softer, brighter days of spring! I feel my heart lift as gardening supplies appear at the hardware stores, birds flock to drink from my pond and yes, swimsuits are on the racks once more. What a blessing to live in Hope!
When reflecting on the ancient Israelites, I marvel they who through long, dark centuries and terrible conflicts lived with the hope and faith that God's promise of a Savior would come to pass. I imagine hearts lifting as the prophets shared the signs of a coming Lord and Savior. Then as now we trust the promises our God has given us and somehow feel lifted by anticipating a new life filled with the light given to us through Jesus Christ.
May all of us feel and share the joy of a new season. A busy time filled with plans, blessings, opportunities to serve and especially hope and light.
This is the day the Lord hath made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
