About Us...

In a historic meeting at Zion Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City, women from six cities-Apache, Chickasha, Norman, Shawnee, Lawton and Oklahoma City-became the first Lutheran women to organize as the Lutheran Women's League of Oklahoma in l928. Their goal was to unite to further mission work, particularly in Oklahoma. In 1942 they became one of the 15 original charter members of the national Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Since that time Oklahoma LWML has grown to include women of 74 congregations and a membership approaching 1450.

The LWML, with a membership of over 250,000, is the official women's auxiliary of The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod. The LWML focuses on affirming each woman in her relationship with Christ to enable her to be in ministry among the people of the world. For over 60 years the LWML has been encouraging and equipping women to live out their Christian lives in active mission ministries and to financially support global missions.
