Joyce Watson, Zone President                                                                                      October 2011

The Panhandle Zone’s Fall Fest was held at St. John’s, Hooker on September 17.  There were 27 in attendance including 3 pastors and 4 guests.  Mite offering was $184, Registration Overage was $180, and $99.50 was sold at the LWML Store.  District members attending were Bev England, Marguerite Christman, and Betty Reichert.  We appreciate them making the long trip to join us for a lovely day of Bible study and fellowship.  Our Bible Study was led by Texhoma members:  Diane Wackler and Kasey Meyer.  Our “Gifts from the Heart” were 14 new, stuffed animals and were donated to Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon.  The speaker for the day was Dr. Robert Rahn of Lutheran Heritage Foundation.  He presented an interesting power point and information about the organization.  Pastor Tom House of St. John’s led our opening and closing devotions.  Mary Olsen shared her experience of being the National Convention Delegate at Peoria.  Lutheran World Relief items gathered were 15 Health Kits, 12 School Kits, 10 Sewing Kits, and 16 Layettes.  Donations for Orphan Grain Train included 475 quilts, 3 blankets, 12 Health Kits, 5 pounds of Soap, 104 Boxes of assorted clothing and items, crutches, a walker, and a $100 donation.  Ladies were invited to attend the Fall Retreat at Hinton, Oct. 21 & 22, and the District Convention in Guthrie April 13 & 14, 2012.
