Tulsa Zone

The Tulsa Zone Fall Fest was held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Broken Arrow on Saturday, September 24th. Zone President, Carol Fruehling, was ill and unable to attend so our Vice President, Sharon Schmidt presided. We had a total of 56 in attendance, including 4 pastors and 3 teens. Our Mite offering was $300.15, our LWML store sales were $68.00 and our registration total was $424.00 after expenses. We had a table full of non-perishable items for our "Gifts from the Heart" that will be taken to Broken Arrow Neighbors in Broken Arrow. The opening devotion was led by Pastor Wilke from Immanuel. Pastor Eric Van Scharrel, Christ the Redeemer Tulsa, led us in a very inspiring Bible study. He also led our closing devotion. Patti Ross told us about the new Bible study that will be coming out on DVD and encouraged each church to purchase one. Lanece Young, our Tulsa Zone delegate to the National Convention in Peoria gave us some highlights on her experiences on being a "First-Timer" to a national convention. Our guest speaker was Ruth Kruse from Our Savior Lutheran Church in Tulsa. She had a wonderful and moving presentation from her mission trip to Haiti with MUCH Ministries. Thanks so much to the ladies from Immanuel who hosted this event and served a delicious lunch.

On October 3 LWR items were collected at Grace Lutheran in Tulsa and on Oct. 4 Dale of Grace who loaned us his horse trailer and I took the items to Wichita.  Included were 331 Quilts, 11 Blankets, 141 Health Kits, 675 School Kits, 45 Sewing Kits, 95Layettes and 228 pounds Soap from the Tulsa Zone.  We also had items from ST Johns in Hooker, Oklahoma and several churches in the Miami Zone.
